The Org. covering up the SHUNNING POLICY !!

Those videos are the opposite end scenario depicted before of a mother rejecting her daughter's phone call. This time the mother is rejected. They both try to normalise outrageous demands imposed by the organisation.
The fact they have taken them down demonstrates that at some level, they know how unnatural, unloving and cultish these iron rules are.

Older Ex-JW Attending Mass in Historic U.S. Basilicas
by TMS ini still remember the first time i commented on this board with nervous fingers barely able to press the keys.
what triggered my entry into the forbidden was the orchestrated disfellowshipping of my then 21 year old son.. well, he's now 51, with a supportive wife, two genius sons who will never see the inside of a kingdom hall.. my first wife of 49.5 years, loyal and supportive to a fault, passed away 5 years ago.. in 2019 i married a young filipina, 33 years my junior, a nominal catholic.
my life with her has simply been amazing and i treasure every moment.

A few years ago whilst on a weekend in London my wife and I went to a service in St Paul's cathedral. That seemed like a poke in the eye to all that we had been taught over many decades. There was a small congregation, all of whom seemed to know what they were doing al least. we of course didn't. We left before the end. There seemed no more weight in the proceedings than in our hall. We left before the end. Perhaps we missed the good bits.
I any case I can report, there was no lighting bolt from the sky, or impressions of impending doom. There was no rustle of offended angelic wings. Maybe that is being saved up for the imminent, just around the corner moment when fireballs are tossed from heaven at us and that wonderful building. I won't hold my breath.

I used to have a telex and a fax machine. Somehow I get by without them. Wow, I don't seem to have had a boy on a bike deliver a telegram for a while either.

Rebekah Vardy--UK channel 4 : Tuesday 16th 10.00pm.
by stan livedeath insummary.
the subject of the `wagatha christie" trial investigates the inner workings of the jehovah's witnesses.
having grown up within the faith, she explains how the religion failed to support her through sexual abuse and shunned her as a child.

I also think it went well. The interviews with others were very powerful. The pity was the overhang from the Wagatha Christie came that undermines her credibility. I suppose that was also the positive since it is that case that gave the program its prominence.
She came across as sincere and truthful. My question is how her abuse came in front of the elders when they had been shunned for 4 years. Maybe either she or I missed something.
Her comments about life in the Borg were very familiar. Overall, I’m glad I’m not knocking on doors this morning.

Biden running in 2024 🤣
by LoveUniHateExams ini've filed this under news and world events, although i could've posted it under entertainment, lol.
apparently, joe biden will be seeking re-election for another term in the white house.. this, despite a recent poll showing that 70% of people don't want him to run again.. biden just has to be the worst president i've seen.
his gaffes, over-relience on a prompter, and, more than any other president, his refusal to answer journalists' questions, all go to make him top of the list in terms of bad presidents.. it will certainly provide entertainment, if nothing else..

I don't always agree with you Cofty but honestly? It's depressing. This will be the third surreal election in which any sort of pretence of genuine public service seems completely absent. You couldn't make it up.

I had a friend who did the same and became a Bethel elder.

Christmas Decorations at the Kingdom hall
by Simon ini can't remember if i've told this story before .... but back in the day, in irlam congregation (northwest england, uk, cheshire #1 circuit i think) we used to rent a kingdom hall for many years before we eventually built our own.. preston hall.
ah, the memories .... it was primarily used as a community hall for old folks, but we had it friday night and sunday morning.. there was a loft and fold-out ladder and we used to store the chairs up their.
every meeting, there would be an assembly line of all the "lads" to pass the chairs down and set them up, then collect them up and pass them back up at the end of the meeting.

I went to a cong that met in a community hall. Come Christmas the decorations were hung every where. We would take them down then re-hang the when we left.
That felt like a compromise but we got quite good at it.
